Nutrition to promote healthy liver function

The liver is not responsible for addictive behaviour.  It does however suffer the repercussions.  This is because the liver processes chemicals we take so that they can be removed from the body.  Alcohol, nicotine, the drugs of misuse and certain medications can all damage the liver.

Unfortunately no supplement is able to prevent all the damage that chemicals might do to the liver.  This supplement is designed specifically to support the liver and try to reduce the potential damage.

It is well known that alcohol, drugs, nicotine and certain medications give the liver a hard time.  This supplement is designed to make things much easier.

Cigarette smoking in particular deprives the body of antioxidants.  Antioxidants help protect the body from chemicals that damage cells, contribute to aging, impair immunity and can lead to diseases like cancer.  This supplement is very rich in powerful antioxidants and so can help the body recover the antioxidant levels it requires to protect the body.

Ingredients

Choline – Choline is needed for liver and gall bladder function.  A deficiency may result in a fatty buildup in the liver.  Alcohol significantly increases choline metabolism.  Research on baboons has shown choline to vastly decrease the likelihood of developing cirrhosis.

NAC -   NAC is a known liver protectant.  It is a precursor to glutathione, a powerful antioxidant also known to be vital to liver function.  Glutathione detoxifies the liver by binding to potentially harmful chemicals.  It reduces damage from alcohol, drugs and cigarette smoke.  It may also reduce cravings.

Taurine – Excessive alcohol intake causes a depletion in taurine.  It is a powerful antioxidant and protects liver cell membranes.  Supplementation may reduce alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Methionine – Methione is a powerful antioxidant and helps the liver deal with toxic chemicals.

Alpha Lipoic Acid – A powerful antioxidant that can protect the liver and pancreas from damage.  It can improve the liver’s ability to eliminate toxins.

Inositol – Reduces the accumulation of fats in the liver that occur when a liver is damaged.

Vitamin B1 – It helps to protect the liver from damage by alcohol, drugs and smoking.  It is depleted by alcohol and drug use.

Vitamin B2 – It regenerates the antioxidant glutathione that detoxifies the liver.  It is depleted by alcohol and drug use.

Vitamin B3 – It is depleted by drug and alcohol use.  It is essential for functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin B5 – It is depleted by alcohol and drug use.  It is essential in many body functions, particularly of the nervous system.

Vitamin B6 – Depleted by alcohol, drugs, smoking and even coffee.  It is involved in more bodily functions than nearly any other nutrient.  It is essential for normal brain function.

Vitamin B12 – Depleted by alcohol and drug use.  It helps prevents nerve damage.

Folic acid – Depleted by drugs, alcohol and smoking.  It works closely with all the other B vitamins, in their role in the nervous system.

Vitamin C – A potent antioxidant that helps to eliminate toxins.  Smoking particularly depletes levels.

Vitamin E – A potent antioxidant that works synergistically with vitamin C to help remove damaging chemicals.  It is necessary for tissue repair.  It prevents cell damage due to it’s role as an antioxidant.

Zinc – Zinc is a constituent of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD).  It helps prevent liver damage.
